2003 5-State Sectional Championships (August 15-18, Indianapolis, IN)
States represented include: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin
Highlights
Winter Regular USTA Season:
The SE Team finished the Winter Regular Season
with a record of 13-1, to win back-to-back (2002 and 2003) USTA Columbus Division Titles.
Summer Regular Season:
The SE Team finished the Summer Regular Season undefeated
to claim the 2003 USTA Summer Season Columbus Division Title.
OVTA District Championships:
After winning 3 tight inter-division matches, the
OVTA/Columbus SE Team swept the finals 5 courts to 0, to claim the 2003 OVTA District Championship.
State Championships - Ohio:
After winning their first match with a court 5,
Match Tie-break, the OVTA/Columbus SE team found themselves in a similar situation in
their second match. With the score tied at 2 courts apiece, the OVTA/Columbus SE team's
5th court doubles team of Nesler and Young fought off 6 match points to
come back and win the tie-break, 12-10, and win the 2003 USTA State Championship title.
